PRIVACY POLICY

Protecting your privacy is very important to us. All of the information we collect will be used only as described.

Site activity data are collected throughout the www.alumni.ucr.edu Web site. These data include information on domains, browsers, operating systems, and pages accessed. This information is used only in aggregate, and only to better understand general site usage patterns, improve site usability, and add services which will better serve our visitors' needs and interests. No attempt is made to track individuals or preserve any information relating to identified users.

UCR maintains a campus database of your name, address, phone number, email, college and year of graduation to allow us to stay in touch with you (send you the UCR magazine), and to let your old classmates find you (if you so permit). This information may be used by University of California, Riverside for the development of invitation lists to university-oriented programs and events, as well as for university-affiliated marketing programs and benefit offerings. If you do not wish to have this information assigned to these purposes, please notify the Office of Alumni and Constituent Relations at (800) 426-ALUM or at ucralum@ucr.edu

SB569 - California State Senate Bill 569 became law on January 1, 2006. It allows public universities like UCR to continue to provide individual alumni cost-effective group rates and discounts for home, travel and financial programs through affinity partnerships. Such programs provide significant savings to California public university students and alumni. Resources from these partnerships enable the UCR Alumni Association to administer a comprehensive scholarship program for the benefit of our students. Alumni programs and services are jeopardized as the state’s general fund is increasingly challenged to meet the needs of higher education, so such affinity partnerships are an important source of university funding.

Please note that the University of California Riverside and the UCR Alumni Association never sell or otherwise disclose personal information such as your social security number, academic records, etc. to any outside organizations, companies or individuals.

The new law requires public universities to provide alumni the option to not receive information on such cost-saving offers from affinity partners. If you prefer NOT to receive information on such discounts, you can email us at optoutpartners@ucr.edu or simply complete this online form. (Please allow up to 45 days to remove your name from our partner lists.)

Online Community - We have an online partnership with a well-established company that specifically serves universities and alumni associations, and shares our goal of protecting your privacy. Alumni Connections, a division of Bernard C. Harris Publishing Company, Inc., provides our Online Community services.  The Online Community includes, among other services, an Online Directory. Your information may be accessed by other UCR alumni through our Online Directory. There is a registration process that an individual must complete to access the Online Community. Only UCR alumni have access to the community. Occasionally, you may receive electronic email newsletters. You may remove yourself from this mailing list following the directions located within one of those messages.

At any time, you can change your personal information in the Online Directory, or choose to have the information hidden. To do this, log in to the Online Community. From there, click on "Online Directory". Then, click on "View/Update Your Online Directory Listing". To update your address information, click on "Update Address". To remove your listing in the Online Directory, click on "Update Personal", and you can deselect the checked box that reads "Display in Directory". You can also change your professional information using a similar process.

If at any time you have questions about how your information will be used, you may email us at ucralum@ucr.edu.

Thank you for visiting our Web site. We look forward to continuing to improve this site to exceed your expectations.
