David C. Willmon '85 B.A. History
David C. Willmon ('85 B.A. History)
is a steadfast UCR supporter with a long history of service to the
campus. As an undergraduate student, he served as ASUCR External Coordinator,
was a member of the UC Student Body Presidents Council, the UC Student Lobby
and UCR’s Registration Fee Committee. In recognition of his student
activities, he was presented the Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in 1973.
After graduation, Willmon continued his commitment of service to UCR. He
was a member of the UCR Alumni Association board of directors for 16 years
and twice held the office of president. He has served as representative to
the Alumni Associations of the University of California (AAUC), an organization
of leaders from each of UC’s nine independent alumni associations. He was an
elected alumni regent to the UC Board of Regents and served on the Educational
Policy, Finance, and Grounds and Buildings committees. He is former head of
the UCR Alumni and Visitors Center Committee for several years. His tenacity,
persistence and strength of character kept the project alive. Willmon was
chair of the UCR City-University Task Force for several years and is a
former trustee of the UCR Foundation.
Professionally, Willmon is a regional representative for the League of
California Cities, where he is responsible for the 24 cities of the Riverside
County Division and three cities of the League’s Desert Mountain Division.
Willmon is the principal liaison between cities, as League members, and
county, regional and state officials.
