UC Regents Authorize UCR to Proceed with Plans for Medical School - The Regents of the University of California have authorized UC Riverside to proceed with the next phase of planning for a School of Medicine. UCR will begin immediately a national search for a founding dean for the school. It will also hire initial faculty and staff, develop curriculum that focuses on improved health care in both primary and specialty care, and seek private support. It plans to submit a final proposal and refined business plan to UC officials by the end of 2007. "We are delighted with the Regents’ action today," UCR Chancellor France A. Córdova said. "For the last three years we have taken incremental steps toward a School of Medicine at UCR, but this is a giant leap forward."...more

Gift to Fund Dean's Position for the Medical School at UC Riverside - Chancellor France Córdova announced the largest chair endowment in campus history for the founding dean of its proposed School of Medicine. Mark and Pam Rubin of Beverly Hills have designated the proceeds from a real estate gift they made earlier to the university be used to endow the chair. Campus officials estimate that this will mean at least $3.5 million for the chair when the property is sold...more

Sue Gozansky has been a guiding force behind the evolution of women's athletics at UCR for 37 years. In 2006, she was inducted into the American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. UCR Alumni Association Board of Directors

The UCR Alumni Association Board of Directors is a dedicated group of volunteers which establishes Association policy, reviews programs, and provides feedback and suggestions to the University administration. 

The Association is now accepting nominations and applications for its Board of Directors. Alumni interested in serving on the Board or submitting a nomination may apply online or print out an application to mail in. All applications and nominations must be received by January 12. The two-year term begins July 1.

Only current members of the UCR Alumni Association are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.

'05 Crystal Harris is playing professional basketball with the National Women's Basketball League team San Diego Siege. Crystal is excited to be working with veteran coach Fred Williams who coached the WNBA's Charlotte Sting and Utah Starzz. In her senior year at UCR, Crystal was the graduate assistant coach for the Highlanders.
