Carbon Nanotubes Could Aid Human Bones on the Mend
Osteoporosis sufferers and victims of broken bones may have the tiniest of friends in carbon nanotubes, according to researchers at the University of California, Riverside. The strength, flexibility and light weight of carbon nanotubes – structures 100,000 smaller than a human hair – allow them to act as scaffolds to hold up regenerating bone, according to Distinguished Professor of Chemical & Environmental Engineering as well as Chemistry Robert C. Haddon, the director of the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering, a collaboration of Bourns College of Engineering and the College of Natural & Agricultural Sciences, at UC Riverside.

UCR Campaign News

Same Place, New Name!!

As of July 1 2005, The UCR Annual Fund program has been officially re-named to the “UCR Fund.” This change is a reflection of the growth our annual giving efforts have experienced during the past fiscal year. The UCR Fund currently solicits annual support from alumni, parents and friends for various academic, scholarship and research programs. The UCR Student Call Center and direct mail efforts continue to remain the main vehicles used to facilitate annual gifts.
Each gift made to the UCR Fund helps maintain the accessibility and prestige of a UCR education--enhancing the quality of your degree and the academic reputation of your alma mater. Through the generosity of alumni, parents, students and friends, your gift to the UCR Fund helps shape the future of both UCR and the community it serves.
You can make your gift today by going to UCR's online gift form and entering source code 0524. For more information about the UCR Fund contact Nesha Crossman, UCR Fund Director at (951) 827-4293.
