Older and Wiser People May Be Key to Mankind’s Development

Modern man may owe a debt to granny. Researchers at UC Riverside and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor have discovered a dramatic increase in human longevity that took place during the early Upper Paleolithic Period, around 30,000 B.C. The time corresponds to an equally large increase in the evolutionary success and creativity of the group. Click here for more information.

Alumni "GetActive"

UCR Alumni and Friends Urged to “GetActive”

UCR continues to be important to the lives of so many Californians by providing a world-class education for high-achieving students, generating economic growth and new jobs through its research innovations, and working to improve the health and quality of life of all Californians. Yet for the fourth consecutive year, the state has been disinvesting in the University of California.

UCR is asking alumni and friends to join in a grassroots network called GetActive to remind elected officials why adequate state funding for higher education is critical for California’s future. Advocates will receive information about the variety of ways they can participate: sending the Governor or individual lawmakers an email (we will provide model communications), attending special UC events, or perhaps visiting with a UC delegation to a legislator’s office. Advocates also will receive news on issues important to UCR and higher education, updates on the progress of our advocacy efforts and how they can enlist others to join.
