Bonnie (Leihy) Troup ('86 B.S. Mathematics, College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences) was promoted to the position of chief software engineer on the TSAT Program. TSAT is a military satellite program under the Space and Missile System Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base. Bonnie's work with satellites has carried over into her private life, in the form of geocaching. Geocaching is an internet based sport of hide-and-seek using GPS receivers. One person hides a cache at a set of coordinates, posts the coordinates on the geocaching website, and other players use their GPS handhelds to try to find the cache. At present, there are over 500,000 caches hidden world-wide. Bonnie is up to 2,124 cache finds, mostly local to LA, but a few in other states. |
